21.1. Zonal Printers

What is zonal printing?

Zonal printing is a feature which allows you to print your orders as per your zones. for e.g., your kitchen items can print in the kitchen and bar item can print in the bar. This feature has no impact on ordering process, so nothing changes for the customer.

Printing flow and terminology

Tags: You can consider tags as middleman for the printing. tags bind printers and menu together. Its good practice to name the tags as per your zones for eg, you can create a tag for kitchen and one more for bar.

Printer: In this instruction we are using Foodship printer, and every Foodship printer has a unique Cloud ID. If you don’t know the cloud ID for your printer, please reach out to Foodship support and we will help you.

Flow: Menu connects with the tags → tags connect with printer, so when an item is ordered, the system looks for the tag attached to the menu item and handover the print to the tag and then tag sends the print to the connected printer.

How to create tags

Printers setting→ Enable zonal printing → Add printer tag → Add new printer tag

How to add a printer?

Path to add printer: Login to your admin panel by going to www.domain-name.com/login → Settings → Printers setting→ in zonal printing → Add printer

In the screenshot below I have added a printer for coffee machine and attached the coffee tag to it.

How to connect tag to the menu?

There are two ways to connect tag to the menu,

Attach a tag when creating a new menu item

Attaching tag to new menu item

Attaching tag to new menu item

Attach tag to an existing item

Ensure to click submit to save your zonal printing settings and now your orders shall print as per zonal tags.
