How to Sign In to Square and Fetch API Keys?

Using Square with Foodship (Online Ordering & POS)

To accept payments via Square in Foodship Online Ordering / POS, you need the following Production credentials:

  • Application ID

  • Access Token

  • Location ID

Let’s get started.


Sign In to Square Developer

  1. Open your browser and go to: https://developer.squareup.com

  2. Click on Sign In.

  3. Enter your login details and sign in.

    • If you do not have an account yet, click Create Account.

  4. Fill in the required details ("Tell us about your business", contact details, etc.).

  5. Complete the setup.

Create a Square Application

  1. Go again to: https://developer.squareup.com

  2. Click on Start Building.





  1. Add / create your Business Application.

  2. Once the application is created, Square will automatically generate Sandbox credentials:

    • Sandbox Application ID

    • Sandbox Access Token

⚠️ Note: Sandbox credentials are for testing purposes only.


Switch to Production Mode (Live Payments)

To accept real payments, you must activate Production mode.

  1. In the Developer Dashboard, switch from Sandbox to Production.

  2. Click on Activate your Square account.

  3. Click the activation link shown on the screen (refer to the image).

  4. You will be asked to enter:

    • Business details

    • Bank / account details

  5. Complete and submit the form.



  • Square applications are created in sandbox (test) mode by default. Test mode does not process real payments.

  • To accept real customer payments and receive money in your bank account, you must switch to Production mode and use Production credentials in Foodship.

  • Without Production mode, live payments will not work.



Get Production Application ID, Access Token & Location ID

Once activation is complete:

  1. Go to: https://developer.squareup.com

  2. Open your Application.

  3. Navigate to Credentials.

  4. Make sure Production mode is selected.

  5. Copy the following details:

    • Production Application ID

    • Production Access Token

    • Location ID
